The album is actually a heart cry coming from the realization of how disadvantaged, impotent, and feeble I am without God. It is also an expression of my dire need of Him daily. It's an authentic plea and prayer.
Survive is a song of confidence in Christ, a personal reassurance and declaration not of the flesh but coming from faith in the Word of God - particularly the portion that says Christ in me is the hope of glory and greater is He that's in me than he that's in the World. This song was given as an assurance and Boosting in the face of deadening words like you are a failure and you will never succeed from some of the closest of relations. So I would like you to know that as long as Christ resides in you, you will survive regardless of earth, heaven, and hell.
Hallelujah. This song is about the wonderment of what was accomplished on my behalf on the old rugged and cruel Cross. It sounds with the Cross-bought joy, and the entire work of Christ in a nutshell. It is the Gospel in brevity. Here the beauty and majesty of God radiate and glows in a blinded manner. May we keep our eyes fastened on the Cross and glory therein all our days.
Your Spirit, my cry. This is a cry coming from a deep place of conviction and realization that God is doing His work here and now by His Spirit. He doesn't need the sophistication and might of the natural man to accomplish the Great Commission, to establish His Kingdom, and have His Will done in the hearts of men on earth as it is in heaven. The natural man regardless of his many seemingly good abilities cannot live the life of God (that which is flesh is flesh) therefore, cannot do the sacred and noble work of the Incorruptible God. God, albeit almighty and with a tongue or mouth that doesn't speak in vain, could not speak a single word or say "let there be..." except the Spirit hovers or broods first and foremost. If almighty God waited for the Holy Spirit before speaking "Let there be" Why do we front as though we are mightier than God? Let's cry out for and create a reception for the Spirit of God if we are going to revival. The Apostles were commanded to wait for the Spirit are they venture with the work of God. God's Spirit is it only that does the work of God, not the muscle and sharp faculties of mortals. He (Man) is stained and insufficient for the task, therefore, God Himself must undertake the task in person of His Spirit. But this Spirit must work in us by our permission both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Therefore, we must hunger for Him daily.
Heart Of Worship. This song is a deep and intense longing for the Lord's presence coming from the understanding and conviction that worship doesn't take place from afar. I believe that in His presence worship is not flesh-engineered, it's not worked out and it is not tedious. In His presence worship is not a burden, rather it flows naturally and is lively. When we speak of the Heart of Worship, we're referring to that which enlivens and infuses real life into worship - rescuing it from mere routine, custom, and duty. We're referring to that which sifts deadness out of worship, that which constitutes the center or the crux of worship. We're speaking of the place of glory, excellence, and beauty that makes worship possible and authentic, and easy. The heart of worship points to the Word, the Cross, and the presence of God. It is in His presence that we behold His glory and His excellence, and it's abnormal and unnatural to grandeur without being moved to admire and appreciate it. In the presence of God, we know him better and progressively and we can only worship what we know otherwise it's superstitious worship. The presence of God is the school of worship. Therefore, I must return from Self, Sin, and the World to His presence.
Indebted. It's a song of gratitude for His love and grace. As an object of His love and kindness who actually should have been an object of His wrath, I am overwhelmed by how lavish His love for me has been and still is. I know how insufficient I am and know very well that I will never be able to pay Him back. And what He wants actually is not music but my life laid down at His feet as a living sacrifice. I should do unto Him as He has done unto me. The love of God is stunning. So since I can't pay Him, the little I can do is to hand over my life to Him.
Make Me Lord, as it's already obvious, this song is from a place of conviction that it's possible to be like Christ in many ways. However, I am unlike Him in many ways; sadly I am not content with this quality of life or this measure of Christ I have. I want to so resemble Him that He can pleasurably say to me "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh." This song is my way of saying to Him alone who makes all things new that He has the liberty or permission to carry out His work in my life till I am one with and in harmony with Him.
Be Still & Know is a song coming from a period in my life when I wanted to take matters into my own hands as though I am stronger and know better than God. I wanted to avenge myself as I felt belittled, despised, and ignored. In addition, the pressure from within and without was such that my mind entertained many ungodly and seemingly good alternatives. But as always, this was His response or counsel to me: "Be still and know that I am God."
More of You. It's a troubling and restless passion for the Lord. The greatest and the chief of our heritage. He's the pearl and treasure of heaven and earth. This song is about a hunger for more of Jesus Christ - The Fountain of Life, the River of living water. The earth though transiently glorious and luring fades in comparison to the glory of Christ in the eyes of him who has experienced the love of Christ shown on Calvary. May we never say "enough" but may say always like the leech in the proverb of the wise man "Give, give..." For they that hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled.
Follow You. This song is a decision and a public declaration of my resolve. This decision is an informed decision. It is not coerced neither is it out of exuberance. Christ does not lead wrong. He's the only safest direction to follow in this confused world with many paths. Hope you decide to follow Him as well as He's the only person that God is secure to set before our attention that we may take our cues from. Let's follow Him!
KukuJumuku is a pigeon language. It carries the idea that when you are not in or part of an experience or thing you will have no knowledge or clue of what that thing or experience is. In this case, there are many who are missing out on the sweetness and pleasure associated with or within God, but don't know because they are outside. Some are outside of the experience suspecting God rather than coming in and becoming part of the sweet experience. Lay Papay Baynay (The Father's Business) is so sweet. I just can't help but shout and dance to the goodness of God.
